In Liberec, the reconstruction of five-storied Secession-style house including thirty-five hotel rooms was finished in December 2008. It expanded the capacity of the attached neighbouring hotel Clarion Grandhotel Gold Leo.
Originally the block of flats in the historic city centre was interconnected with the hotel at every level of each floor. Within the scope of reconstruction a new evacuation elevator was built as well.
Despite the fact that the construction took place while the hotel was under full operation, the project was finished on time.
The introductory stage of the project included a substantial workload of demolition jobs, removal of plaster, and the dismantling of the original ceiling frame. Later, during only nine months, the installation of all steel construction and the realization of gross floors and plasters went ahead, followed by the hanging of gypsum wallboard and the installation of electricity and all the heating and air-conditioning.
On the frontal facade in Gutenbergova Street a substantial remodeling took place including stucco decorations and sculpted ledges and parapet windows. The architecturally intriguing Secession house was given a new roof and sheeting.
The most complicated work involved the intricate reconstruction of the roof frame because the attic was originally transformed into the hotel guest rooms, and also the addition of the elevator pit that was carried out through five-story demolition works of current construction.
